Biography

I was born in Paisley, in the west of Scotland, where I studied foundational drawing skills at college. Later, in 2014, I went on to study visual arts at MIT in New Zealand, Art and Craft at Hungry Creek Art and Craft School, and Painting & Ceramics at the LC in Wellington.

Upon returning to Europe, I attended VAVA in Vienna and, under the mentorship of Oleg Korolev, was introduced to Old Master painting techniques, culminating in 2018.

In 2022, I studied with Odd Nerdrum in Norway. I have continued to visit him and the community there ever since, taking part in exhibitions with dear friends and colleagues in the craft.

I work from my studio in my native Strath Gryffe, in the west of Scotland.

Artist Statement

Mythopoetic Landscape Painting

To behold the sublime, timeless, and sentimental landscape, to bring it back to a place where one can wonder and dream, all the while enjoying the story unfolding through the elements.

Drawing upon the handcraft tradition of the Old Masters, hand-gathered and ground earth pigments form the foundation of each painting. Through sketches from life and working from memory and fantasy, layer by layer, I hope that each painting can convey an essence of the timeless beauty of creation.
