Artist Statement

Artistic self-expression always involves the necessity of self-education. For this reason, he continually experiments with different painting and drawing techniques, follows the contemporary art scene, and visits important art exhibitions for inspiration. His artworks emerge from his own imagination or from his perception of the worlds of poetry, nature, or simply his surroundings. Over the years, he has consistently developed his own distinctive and unmistakable style.

"Where great forces mature and express themselves at their highest strength, there are the times of art." This statement by the art writer Wilhelm Heinse applies to him in three respects: there are the forces of the "inner artistic drive" to practise art; there are the forces that must be "invested" in doing so; and, ultimately, the forces that are "released in the creative process." He has chosen this artistic principle of "Sturm und Drang" as the motto for his presentation of himself on the internet. With its protest against the absolute rule of reason and its emphasis on the world of emotions, it corresponds closely to his understanding of art.

His artworks usually emerge unconsciously and intuitively from his imagination. They are predominantly abstract or surreal works depicting visionary, bizarre, and mysterious figures, landscapes, and structures that emerge from the unconscious and resist interpretation. Geometric and organic forms, lines, and colours also give his paintings a highly personal style.

The abstract surrealist artworks are painted in oil or acrylic.

The artwork itself develops through the painting process. At the beginning, a conceptual framework and the rough construction are drawn onto the canvas. The motifs are predominantly impressions of the environment and nature, which later intuitively develop into structures of the imagination.

The exhibited artworks are stimulating, painterly impressions that possess a very specific dynamic and their own open process of development. They are compelling thoughts that develop on the canvas into a flowing canon of innermost sensations. For this reason, they cannot be repeated. Artistic inspiration, expression, and creative freedom are very important to him. Often, several materials come together to form a complete work of art. The overall composition remains the primary focus.
