Artist Statement

Gordon’s artistic fields of work include painting, drawing, photography, photo collage, and ceramics.

Her themes encompass humanity’s relationship with nature, interpersonal relationships, childhood, portraits, and much more.

Lidia Barbara Gordon is a pioneer when it comes to exhibitions on the theme of “Children in Art.” Her primary aim is to understand the child as a subject and to reveal childhood itself.

Gordon seeks to portray children as they are: their cheerfulness and spontaneity, their originality, their contentment, and their seriousness.

Gordon’s paintings are characterized by a rich colour palette, free and imaginative forms of figures and plants, and creative patterns.

Gordon depicts the real world against a background of a quiet premonition that reality is not permanent and is transient.

Thanks to imaginative forms and a vivid colour palette, flowers and living beings that are rarely found in nature acquire a remarkable vitality and sense of reality.
