Since 2013, using only her camera as one would a painter’s brush and natural light as color source, E Bee Bantug literally paints abstract conceptual images aiming to penetrate beyond surface realities; somehow unveiling cosmic energies at play in liminal time space.

Asian-American E Bee Bantug has worked as an advertising, marketing and graphics design professional in Asia, Europe, and the US; presently a co-founder & Managing Partner at an IT solutions firm; as well as a visual artist, professionally since 2013. Totally self-taught, E Bee considers her keen appreciation and practice of art in its visual, literary, music and performing forms to be her lifelong art mentor and inspiration. She is fascinated by natural light, its unpredictable movement in the Aether and is passionate about expressing its interplay in seemingly-empty spaces of the Aether with her in-the-moment consciousness. Aether –that 'mysterious substance once thought to suffuse the universe' as one dictionary puts it– is still so magnificently alive, pregnant, conscious. Indeed, Aether along with light, are both bountiful medium and matrix of her visual work.

Conceptually, technically, to create her imagery, E Bee deliberately uses only her camera but not to capture preexisting images per se; instead as one would a painter's brush. Without any pre-conceived plan about visual outcomes, E Bee races after movement of natural light: she shapes and creates one-of-a-kind, unrepeatable, ephemeral —often, surreal— imagery aiming to penetrate and break through surface 3D reality. Aesthetically, she likes to push, blur and bridge the edges between painting and photography, both in character and impression. Later, even more deliberately, E Bee does not manipulate nor add filters and strokes, neither digitally nor in the dark room, post-creation. Each image is a tribute and testimony to omnipresence, co-creation and our inter-connectedness.

Practicing this art form is an unending joyful journey of discovery and a veritable meditation practice the rewards of which often reveal astounding breakthroughs behind the proverbial veil – and beyond the conventions of traditional photography. Ultimately, E Bee invites the viewer to experience through her work a unique glimpse into the fullness of All That Is; to discover and share a new perspective not only about the very nature of reality but also, equally, to witness the dynamic role our consciousness, observation and intentionality play in its creation – each imagery a co-creation of quantum moments. Her ongoing series “In the In-between: More Than Meets the Eye” makes this evident . . . ever naturally, entirely unPhotoshopped.

Today, continually seeking to explore and prove more to herself than anyone else deeper, wider creative expressions of her dynamic relationship with the aether and its myriad 'invisible' energetic abundance, E Bee carves out time almost daily to create her visual imagery in liminal space. She stays active with galleries, art buyers as well as online platforms and media, local and international. Her work has been featured in Scottsdale, Virginia, NYC, San Francisco, Oregon, London, Zurich, and Lisbon and continues to receive citations and awards.
