Marcel Jomphe · Winner Collectors Art Prize
Marcel Jomphe, born in 1955 in Havre-Saint-Pierre, now lives in Rimouski. He primarily works in drawing, blending realism with creativity. He draws inspiration from the intricate forms found in nature’s vegetal realm, aiming to foster a more intimate relationship between people and their environment.
In 1977, he embarked on a career as a botanical artist at the Canadian Museum of Nature. He subsequently worked at Laval University’s Louis-Marie Herbarium and at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada. His illustrations have appeared in over 80 scientific publications. Since 2012, he has dedicated himself entirely to his artistic pursuits.
His work has been showcased in over 28 local and international exhibitions in Canada, the United States, Spain, Italy, and France. He has received several international awards. His work has appeared in numerous art books and periodicals. They can also be found in both public and private collections.
