Michael K Owino is a Danish-Tanzanian multidisciplinary artist whose work spans painting, sculpture, literature, music, and mixed media. As a self-taught and deeply expressive creator, he has exhibited his art across the globe in major cities and prestigious venues. His visual language is rooted in storytelling, often reflecting on themes of love, connection, and the overlooked beauty in everyday life.
In 2025, Owino was awarded the prestigious Leonardo da Vinci – The Universal Artist Prize in Milan during a grand and ceremonial event. The same year, he also received the Artist of the Year award in Florence, and the Premier Artis distinction in Madrid, further solidifying his international recognition.
Owino’s diverse background and upbringing between cultures have greatly influenced his artistic voice, resulting in a unique and nuanced body of work. He continues to live and work in Copenhagen, where his studio doubles as both a workspace and a place of inspiration.
