Georgina Macken
"Ah! Portraiture, portraiture with the thought, the soul of the model in it, that is what I think must come," stated Vincent van Gogh. Emotionally connected to this philosophy, artist Dr. Georgina Macken is inspired by her fascination of the soul which resides within the face. Additionally influenced by non- verbal communication, internationally renowned Australian portrait painter, Dr. Macken captures the human spirit as she illustrates unique stories in a single frame. Seizing upon the special dynamic facial expression or gesture, her watercolor-on-paper portraits organically weave a rich tapestry of her subjects, who are often babies or children. Illuminating the spontaneous joy of her subjects, she eternally encapsulates their sparkling personalities for future generations.
Georgina Macken states:"The eyes of a human trigger many concurrent senses and so my portraits enable me to enjoy the power of the eyes without needing to turn away and close mine." Unexplored dreams and visions radiate from their innocent faces, encompassing the layered experience of being human. Through a dazzling visual syntax, her sensorial portraits encapsulate divergent visions in a luminous renaissance style.
Symbolically expressing the human heart through her figures, she adroitly re-contextualizes a parallax vision of the intricacies between the mind and soul to radiate the powerful energy of life. A gorgeous spontaneity reverberates in her oeuvre, as each picture creates colourful aura of consciousness. Ultimately, each image is an experience unto itself, allowing the audience to step through the doorway of the picture and enter the world of the subject, expressed as colours and light.
Translating onto paper the ephemeral moment of life, award-winning painter, Dr. Georgina Macken's oeuvre provides a special artistic perspective into humankind. Brilliant and inspired, her figurative art has received national and international accolades for her expressive devotion to her subjects.
Dr. Georgina Macken is an internationally recognised, award-winning portrait painter.
