The artist's works evoke an emotional response that lingers long after viewing. They invite you to immerse yourself in the layers of his art and discover your own story within it. A journey through space and time, memories and being.

An intoxicating mix of voyeurism, exhibitionism, and 21st-century existentialism reveals the intimate and the unknown. Vulnerability, desire, control, floating and flowing collide. The subject matter remains shadowy, blurred, and distorted—a tension between abstraction and distorted reality, a conflict between the self, emptiness, between frozen space and time, between what was and what is. With his expressive and distinctive portrayal of the human figure, marked by longing and alienation, he addresses the depths of our time.

The works focus more and more on the relationship between inner being and the body in motion. The works dissolve unpredictable boundaries between inside and outside to create a unique experience of the figure.

Michael Kopplstätter (born 1966, Austria) is a German-Austrian self-taught artist who lives and works in Dornbirn and Schwarzenberg, Austria. After graduating from high school, he initially studied architecture in Innsbruck, which he soon gave up in favor of a stay in the USA.

His artistic career began early in New York, where he formed a close friendship with the artist Salome, co-founder of the Neue Wilde (New Wild Ones). Michael Kopplstätter was infected by the spontaneous and expressive elements of the Neue Wilde at an early age.

After New York, he completed a degree in fashion in Germany and pursued an international career in the fashion and design industry, working as a designer, art director, and creative director before returning to painting. Since then, he has exhibited internationally.

In addition to solo and group exhibitions in Europe and gallery presentations, his works have been shown at exhibitions at the Venice Biennale, Art Basel Miami, Art Basel Paris, and ArtLab Munich, among others.

His works are represented in various international collections, primarily in Switzerland, Germany, the USA, and England.
