Ramsay Allan is an oil painter drawn to the power of expression across multiple genres—from dreamlike surrealism to the intimate focus of portraiture, landscapes, and the quiet of still life. His work is rooted in curiosity and the freedom to explore, to feel, and to convey truth as he sees it.

Born in 1962, he brings a wealth of life experience to the canvas—including loss, grief, joy, growth, and discovery. His paintings are not only visual explorations, but also emotional and spiritual ones. He aims to intrigue viewers, to invite them into dreamscapes and chronicles that resonate beyond the surface, offering insights into the knowledge and wisdom he has encountered on his life journey. He believes we are spiritual beings having a human experience, and his art aims to reflect that notion. He stands for creative freedom, the search for truth, and for the liberation of humanity.

Allan holds a BAcc degree from Napier University in Edinburgh, earned in 1993. A member of the Visual Arts Association, he currently works from his home studio in Angus, Scotland, where he continues to develop his distinctive style and artistic vision.

Ramsay Allan is a versatile oil painter whose artistic journey has evolved over a lifetime of rich personal experience. Initially self-taught, he later deepened his skills through dedicated study and observation of both classical and contemporary masters. His genre focus spans from surrealism to portraiture and beyond—reflecting his versatility and thoughtful engagement with the world. Based in Scotland, Allan continues to explore the boundaries of creativity, drawing inspiration from his heritage, intuition, and a deep-rooted belief in artistic freedom.
