Biography

As a mother, wife, multidisciplinary artist, and creative professional, I bring a diverse range of experiences, perspectives, and skills to my artistic practice. I received my B.A. in Studio Arts, Painting, from Marmara University, Faculty of Fine Arts, in Istanbul in 2001. During my studies, I had the opportunity to explore and collaborate across multiple disciplines, including photography, ceramics, and interior design.

While studying, I worked alongside award-winning architects, academicians, and Istanbul- and UK-based contractors. I created decorative paintings and murals for residential and commercial projects and gained valuable experience working within architectural and design environments. I also trained alongside ceramic artists, developing ceramic sculptures and expanding my understanding of three-dimensional art.

After moving to Atlanta 24 years ago, I worked in a variety of roles while learning English and adapting to a new country and culture. I later pursued a career in graphic and web design, working as a freelance designer for various startups. Through this work, I created brands, developed visual identities, and strengthened my skills in visual communication and digital media.

Throughout these years, I have continued to develop my own artistic practice, creating paintings, illustrations, and photography. My diverse professional and creative experiences have shaped my approach to art today, allowing me to draw from multiple disciplines while continuing to explore and develop my artistic voice.

Artist Statement

I am particularly passionate about my connection to the Old Masters, ancient civilizations, mythology, and architecture, all of which have profoundly influenced my work and artistic technique.

The abuse of power, brutality, hatred, and discrimination that have characterized many periods of history remain present in our world today. The atrocities of war and violence continue, and human rights are still being violated.

It is disheartening to recognize that humanity has not yet evolved enough to consistently prioritize truth, justice, and compassion. Through my work, I explore these enduring realities and examine the ways in which power is constructed, manipulated, and ultimately revealed as an illusion.

My work reflects an ongoing exploration of authority, oppression, and the consequences of unchecked power.

By drawing connections between the Old Masters and the present, I seek to remind viewers that although centuries have passed, many of the forces that shape human conflict remain remarkably unchanged. Through historical references, symbolism, and a contemporary perspective, my work questions the nature of power and the fragile structures upon which it is built.
