GLOBAL COLLECTORS ART PRIZE | MASTERS DEFINING THE FUTURE OF ART

Biography

María Isabel De Lince is a Colombian painter and psychologist whose artistic practice spans more than six decades. Born in Bogotá, she is known for luminous abstract oil paintings inspired by nature, color, light, spirituality, and the emotional dimensions of human experience.

She studied Art and Architectural Design and later Psychology at Javeriana University, while developing her artistic training with David Manzur, Fernando Dávila, and Miguel Moyano. Her experience as a psychologist has contributed to her understanding of art as a source of reflection, hope, and emotional connection.

Inspired by Colombia’s extraordinary biodiversity, her paintings transform oceans, forests, mountains, skies, and cosmic phenomena into layered fields of color and transparency. Her work has been exhibited internationally, including in China, Qatar, Dubai, Europe, and the United States, as well as at Colombia’s Edgar Negret Museum, the Salt Cathedral of Zipaquira, and the Museum of Modern Art, Bucaramanga.

Artist Statement

My work is based on the observation of nature, from its simplest elements, such as a flower or a stream, to the most complex, such as the sea, the sky, or a galaxy, and the phenomena that take place within it. Through a process of abstraction, I transform these observations into my paintings.

Color and light play a fundamental role in the development of my work due to their ability to produce sensations in the viewer. Combining visual elements derived from my perception of nature, I seek to transmit through my paintings a message of peace and harmony and to awaken in those who observe them pleasant and heartwarming feelings that bring light and joy to their lives.

In this way, I hope to contribute to peaceful, fraternal coexistence and harmony with the planet, raising awareness about the importance of caring for it and living on it as brothers.
