Artist Statement
My practice explores abstract forms and landscapes that inhabit the space between the real and the imagined, evoking romantic archetypes and poetic states of perception.
Through painting and photography, I investigate the intersections of cultural and natural time, where memory, transformation, and place continuously converge. Reflections, layered surfaces, and shifting temporalities become visual metaphors for the fragility of perception and the elusive nature of remembrance.
Rather than documenting reality, my works reconstruct fragmented memories, inviting viewers to engage with landscapes that are simultaneously familiar and imagined.
In this suspended space, the image becomes a site of contemplation, opening the possibility for an existential and, at times, transcendental encounter.
The Eco Spheres Series. Photography. 2022-2024.
I am trying to portray my world of images through a meditative process of observing the rapid changes and influences of the postmodern industrial and digital world upon nature and our human existence.
I aim to convey the acknowledgement that moving away from natural sources is a defining part of our perceptions and experiences.
While creating these artworks, I imagined my fingers entering the landscape, interfering with its images and structures, rearranging them in new ways, and giving them new meanings and new insights.
This action of visually simulated abstract interference represents my research, quest, and interest in this series of artworks. The hypothetical action of movement becomes representative of the new world of simulated action.
I am trying to articulate the possibilities folded into simulated action as representing the world of substances that are part of our everyday reality. It is a reality of substitutes that is subject to our awareness and conscience, generated by and subject to different cultural influences and attitudes.
