Sanela Cuplovic
Biography
Sanela is a visual artist whose practice explores the expressive possibilities of acrylic painting through impressionistic techniques, bold colours, and contemporary visual concepts. Working primarily on canvas, she transforms emotions, observations, and ideas into distinctive compositions that balance recognisable forms with expressive interpretation. Her work is characterised by vibrant colour palettes, dynamic brushwork, and a sensitivity to atmosphere, light, and movement.
Sanela's creative process often begins with an emotion, a passing thought, an observation from everyday life, or an idea inspired by the world around her. These initial impressions become the foundation for a visual exploration in which colour, form, texture, and movement develop into a cohesive composition. Rather than analysing or explaining an emotion, she uses it as a catalyst for artistic creation, exploring how an intangible feeling can acquire a visual presence through painting.
Her approach combines the immediacy of impressionistic painting with a contemporary sensibility. Through expressive brushstrokes, textured applications of acrylic, and deliberate contrasts in colour, Sanela explores the relationship between visual perception and emotional atmosphere. Her preference for bold, expressive colours brings intensity and individuality to her compositions, while variations in tone, texture, and rhythm create depth and movement across the canvas. These elements allow her work to move between representation and abstraction, offering an immersive visual experience that remains open to interpretation.
