Marta Promińska is a Polish artist and author whose work in oil painting and ink drawing contributes a distinct surrealist voice to contemporary art. Her Hypnagogic Art rejects the obligation to explain or translate images into familiar narratives, instead seeking to evoke unmediated, elemental emotion.

“My aim,” she states, “is to let viewers connect with their own emotional core—to actually feel. The only pure world is the one glimpsed at the periphery of vision, between waking and sleeping.”

Her paintings are conceived as relationships rather than static objects. Meaning is not fixed at the moment of creation; it emerges only when the work meets its audience. “When a viewer appears,” Promińska reflects, “the painting changes. That is when art is truly born.”

Marta Promińska is a Polish artist working in oil and ink, known for atmospheric, surreal imagery. Her work has received international recognition, including multiple American Art Awards—2nd Place Surrealism for “Beyond the Gates” (2021) and “In Extremis” (2018), and 2nd Place Art Brut for “Bema Pamięci” (2020)—as well as the Artist of the Future Award from Contemporary Art Curator Magazine (2020) and inclusion in ArtTour International’s Top 60 International Artists (2020).

She also produced the film “Oneness,” which presents her paintings and received a Special Award at an Independent Cinema Festival in 2022. Her paintings and profiles have been featured in international art magazines and publications such as ATIM’s Top 60 Masters 2020 (ArtTour International, New York), Masterpieces 2020 Special Edition and Masterpieces 2017 (Heavy Music Artwork, UK), Arte Arcana (HMA, UK), and Oneness (One Art Agency, Warsaw, 2021).
