Gabriel Lass

Gabriel Lass

Gabriel Lass began his creative journey designing houses and gardens, learning to think of space as something alive. Painting offered him a more intimate territory: a place to eternalize feelings and transform experiences into visual matter. He works with acrylic, layers, and textures that he builds up and erodes, seeking for color to stop describing and start emitting. His inspiration comes from deep emotions, from observing the world, and from the tension between chaos and order. For him, each work is a place: a space to enter, remain in, and leave transformed.

Gabriel Lass is a contemporary painter whose work falls within expressive abstraction. Initially trained in house and garden design, he developed a deep understanding of space, proportion, and visual rhythm—qualities he now transfers naturally onto his canvases. This foundation allows him to conceive painting not merely as an image, but as a sensitive architecture, where each element finds its place in harmony with the whole.

He works mainly with acrylics, a medium that offers the versatility needed to combine immediacy with layered construction. He uses brushes, spatulas, and unconventional tools to create textures, glazes, and strata that bring density and visual depth. His palette, often intense and vibrant, functions as an emotional temperature: cool tones expand, warm tones condense, black opens depth, white ventilates, and gold radiates.

Lass’s compositions revolve around internal structures—axes, centers, horizons—that organize the energy of gesture and balance the tension between chaos and order. In series such as My Universe, he explores the relationship between center and periphery, density and emptiness, silence and outburst, transforming emotions and life experiences into inner landscapes.

Each of his works offers the viewer a place rather than an image: a space to enter, linger, and leave transformed, carrying with them an experience that transcends mere contemplation.
